The government has taken out a card to ease regulations on urban living housing to solve the shortage of housing supply in the city center. The plan is to quickly expand supply around the station area by utilizing non-apartment houses that have shorter construction periods than apartments.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and political circles on the 19th, the government will include easing restrictions on the number of urban living housing households in the housing supply measures to be announced later this month. The key is to allow up to 500 households in semi-residential, commercial, and industrial areas with less than 300 households, and up to 700 households in station areas within a 500m radius of railway stations through local government ordinances.

The measures are based on the judgment that urban housing, which is fast in licensing and can be moved in within a year or two, will be used as a "supply or medicine" at a time when apartment supply is not speeding up due to various regulations and long-term construction.

The government will also take supplementary measures to reduce the side effects of high-density development. For the volume exceeding 300 households, it is planned to prevent parking difficulties by requiring the installation of at least one parking lot per household regardless of the dedicated area. If the related bill passes the National Assembly at the end of this month, it is expected to take effect as early as the second half of this year after a six-month grace period. However, considering the impact on the residential environment, it is highly likely to be applied temporarily by 2030.
