Some protections are automatically enabled. With Facebook Teen Accounts, the following audience settings will automatically be set to Friends:With supervision enabled, parents and guardians can:
- Blocking someone (on Facebook or Messenger) to prevent unwanted conversations or future interactions
- Limiting the level of visibility and interaction you have with certain people (on Facebook or Messenger) through audience settings and message delivery settings
- Reporting of content or accounts that violate our guidelines and standards
- Who can see your future posts, stories or reels
- Who can see your friends list
- Who can see people, Pages and lists you follow
- Who can see posts you're tagged in on your profile
- Who can comment on your public posts
- See who your teen’s friends and contacts are

Appropriate content
Meta has implemented various measures designed to limit exposure to inappropriate content and abuse on our apps and has established standards for what is and isn't allowed. Safety features available for all accounts include:Teen Accounts have additional layers of protection by default that limit teens' ability to:For more information, read our full Community Standards.
- Comment management: allows you to decide who can comment on your Facebook public posts
- Content filters: filter out emojis, words, or phrases that you (or the community) find offensive on your Facebook Page
- Audience selector:enables you to control who can see your posts on Facebook
- Review tags: allows you to approve or dismiss Facebook posts you are tagged in before they appear on your profile
- Follow, search for, interact with or see content from profiles or Pages that primarily share content inappropriate for teens when in the 13+ setting.
- See search results for a wider range of mature terms (like “alcohol”), along with other sensitive topics.
In addition, by default teens under 18 will typically see content, such as posts, reels and stories, that is similar to what they would see in content rated for ages 13+.

We encourage teens to manage their time on Facebook and Messenger by enabling them to create boundaries around their use. In an effort to help them manage time, we've implemented features like:Teen Accounts have additional default settings:With supervision enabled, parents and guardians can:
- Your time on Facebook shows you the average time per day you spend on Facebook
- Daily limits on Facebook sending reminders to your teen to close Facebook after 1 hour each day
- Sleep mode automatically turning on between 10 PM and 7 AM, muting notifications overnight and displaying a reminder to close Facebook
- See insights around their teen's use on each app
- Set limits on daily use after which the teen cannot access the app
- Create scheduled breaks or periods of time where teens cannot access the app

- Facebook Privacy Checkup allowing you to monitor and adjust your security and privacy settings
- Profile visibility letting you see what your profile looks like to the public or a specific person and adjust accordingly
- Are automatically set to protective message delivery settings. Only Facebook friends and other connections can chat with teens
- Automatically set to protective teen safety settings
- Require parental approval to change the 13+ content setting
- Require parental approval to change all other teen account settings for teens under 16 and older teens that opt into parental supervision
- See their teen's Facebook friends and who their teen has chatted with in the last 7 days on Messenger
- See account privacy settings and content preferences
- See message delivery and story controls settings
