U.S. President Donald Trump posted a photo of the "Panmunjeom Lightning Meeting" with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on social media on the 15th (local time).

President Trump posted a photo taken side by side with Kim in the Panmunjom Joint Security Area (JSA) on Truth Social.

"We don't look good in this particular photo, but there are many pictures of us smiling," he wrote. "Kim Jong-un and I are on good terms!"

The Panmunjom meeting took place on June 30, 2019, during the first period of President Trump's presidency. It was the third meeting following the Singapore meeting on June 12, 2018 and the Hanoi meeting in Vietnam on February 27-28, 2019.

At the time, President Trump met with Chairman Kim at the Military Demarcation Line and shook hands before briefly moving to the North. As a result, President Trump was recorded as the first U.S. president to step on North Korean soil while in office. Since then, the two leaders have met for nearly an hour at the Freedom House in the South, joined by then-President Moon Jae In.

Earlier on June 13, President Trump also posted a photo of the Singapore meeting with Chairman Kim on social media. It has been eight years since the Singapore talks were held.

President Trump's successive posting of photos of his meetings with Chairman Kim appears to be an attempt to promote his achievements and emphasize that he is the only Western leader to have a good relationship with Chairman Kim. Furthermore, it may be seen that he has repeatedly sent a message that he is interested in pushing for a re-promotion of the summit with Chairman Kim.

When President Trump met with then Prime Minister Kim Min-seok at the White House on March 13, he said, "It's great to meet (Kim) on the occasion of his visit to China (mid-May). However, former Prime Minister Kim also told the media, "That may be the time to go to China this time, but it may not be that time, or it may be after that."

Victor Cha, the South Korean chair of the U.S. think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), predicted in an analysis of the current issues on the 13th that Kim could "target a meeting with Trump to reaffirm the basic principles of the Singapore joint statement," and that talks could take place after the U.S. midterm elections in November.
