In addition, Kim Min-seok, the party's leader candidate, won 57.54% (139,307 votes) in the voting for the Honam region's rights members at the August 17 National Convention of the Democratic Party of Korea.

In North Jeolla Province, Kim also won 58.39% (52,749 votes), beating Chung (34.00%, 30,709 votes). Song received 7.61 percent (6,875 votes).
