If you like Bach on guitar or lute, go for Weiss. Contemporaries held him to be Bach's equal, but he wrote only for the lute. Great collections by Kirchhof, North and Smith. Weiss truly is a great.

The big Barto collection is a step down, very good but not as personal as the ones above. The sonics on the Cardin collection are not always pleasing.

Check out GSI. They have some really nice ones in that range, and they sell only guitars in the very good to outstanding range. You can return with no problems. They know what they are doing.

Tigers could be highly chonky in the Renaissance. And dogs were highly problematic. Some are laugh-inducing. Surely there were real dogs to check for reference? Tigers not so much.
